Frances qualified as a solicitor in 1978, having trained with the firm’s founder and former senior partner, Mervyn Beecham. She became a partner in 1979 and has worked with the practice ever since.
A member of Avenue Baptist Church for over 45 years, Frances continues to undertake legal work for various local churches and the community. She was previously a member of the management committee which established the YMCA hostel in Southend.
Frances has a Bachelor of Laws Degree, with upper second class honours, from the University of Newcastle. She was also awarded honours on passing her final solicitor’s examinations with four distinctions.
She is a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). Also the Law Society’s Property Section and Private Client Section, which are representative associations for members.
Frances enjoys gardening, baking, the theatre and many types of music. She has no children but has recently become a great aunt three times over!
Debbie qualified as a solicitor in 2004 since when she has specialised in Family Law with a particular interest in resolving financial aspects within divorce/co-habitation/ civil partnerships and disputes involving children. Debbie joined the firm in May 2010 and was brought into Partnership in November 2011.
As a member of Resolution, Debbie is committed to providing a personal, non-confrontational and supportive service.
Debbie’s outside interests include interior design, gardening, reading and socialising with family and friends.
Since January 2016 Debbie has been a trustee for HARP, an established charity which is committed to eradicating homelessness in Southend. As part of her role as Trustee, Debbie attends regular monthly meetings which deal with the general day to day running of the charity.
Mark qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and specialises in Dispute Resolution.
Mark is a Trustee of HARP, a local charity that seeks to help people overcome homelessness and in his spare time is a cricket geek and plays football regularly.
Kathryn is a Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and a qualified Advanced Paralegal. Kathryn is in the final stages of her qualifying experience whereafter she will apply to become a CILEx Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx Lawyer) and a CILEx Probate Practitioner. She specialises in drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and administration of estates.
Kathryn joined the firm in 2009 and supports both the Probate and Conveyancing departments.
Angela has over 27 years’ experience working in legal practices for private clients (conveyancing, wills, probate, LPAs) in Gray’s Inn and corporate/civil law at The Royal Festival Hall in London. She has been principally involved in supporting PA/EA roles and always grown within them. Since joining the Family Law team in May 2022, she has underpinned the Team and helped with all aspects of their work. She has particularly supported their clients as they go through emotionally challenging times and enjoys helping clients get the good outcomes they deserve.
Away from the office, Angela is an advocate for sustainability issues; she enjoys gardening and works towards self-sufficiency; adopts ex-racing greyhounds and enjoys art, literature and history.
Lauren joined Beecham Fisher Solicitors in 2020. Lauren works in the Conveyancing and Probate Department as a Legal Assistant. She is currently undertaking her Paralegal exams with Cilex whereafter she hopes to qualify as a Paralegal and begin her new role, with her main focus in the Conveyancing Department.
Leanne has over 9 years’ experience working in Family Law at another Essex Legal 500 firm. She joined Beecham Fisher in March 2025 as an Executive in our Family Law team.
Leanne specialises in divorce, financial settlements and children act matters. She has completed the CLT Specialist Paralegal Qualification and will soon be working towards becoming a CILEx Chartered Legal Executive.
Leanne prides herself on being approachable, knowledgeable and client-focused. Her kind and caring personality helps her clients feel at ease in what are often emotionally complex situations.
Away from the office, Leanne enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as taking long walks with her beloved four legged friend, Luna.
Chantelle studied Law at the University of Hertfordshire, and went on to study her LPC and Master’s in Law at the University of Law in Bloomsbury. Chantelle has been working within residential conveyancing since 2016 and deals with a range of transactions including sales, purchases, transfers of equity and remortgages amongst other matters.
In her spare time, Chantelle enjoys spending time with family and going to the gym.
Sam graduated with a law degree in 2023 from UEA and is looking to begin his SQE studies this year to become a qualified solicitor.
In his spare time he plays football and follows West Ham. He enjoys socialising with friends and family and listening to a variety of different music and podcasts.
Cliona is a paralegal working in both the Litigation and Family Law teams, and will be starting her training contract with the firm in September. She studied History and Ancient History at Cardiff University and graduated with a high 2:1. She then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) with Distinction.
In 2024, she won the CEDR National Negotiation Competition and went on to represent Wales at the International Negotiation Competition in Brazil. While at Cardiff, she also worked with Mencap Cymru developing online legal toolkits to help people with learning disabilities better understand their rights.
Outside of work, she volunteers with Southend Girlguiding and sings in the St Bernard’s Alumnae Choir. Cliona also enjoy traveling and watching live music.
Maverick – better known as Mav – is our firm’s four-legged member of the Private Client team. While he leaves the legal work to his human colleagues, Mav provides essential support in other ways: boosting morale, reminding the team to take a break, and spreading good cheer with a wag of his tail. His main responsibilities include supervising biscuit breaks, offering encouragement during busy days, and ensuring there’s always a friendly face around the office.
Away from work, Mav enjoys countryside walks, chasing tennis balls, and perfecting the art of the afternoon nap.
He may not draft wills or trusts, but Mav plays an important role in keeping the team happy and motivated.
Laura joined Beecham Fisher Solicitors in 2021. Laura works in the Conveyancing and Probate Department as a Legal Assistant. In her spare time Laura enjoys interior design and spending time with family and friends
Tom Studied Law (LLB hons) at the University of Hertfordshire. He graduated with a 2:1 honour’s Degree and completed his LPC and LLM (master’s in law) courses, also at Hertfordshire, graduating with a distinction.
Tom qualified as a solicitor in February 2023 after completing his training contract at Beecham Fisher. He took a particular interest in family law whilst training and will continue to work within the family department. Tom has a passion for football and is a long-suffering fan of Aston Villa football club. He also loves being active and goes to the gym regularly. When he is not working out you can find him enjoying a nice meal and some drinks with his family and friends.
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1969 and had been with the firm throughout his professional life, becoming a partner in 1971 and senior partner in 1994. Peter retired from Partnership in 2015 to become a consultant, and is pleased to take on new work and still has a significant caseload.
Peter’s speciality is family law and he is a member of Resolution (The Solicitors’ Family Law Association). He is very experienced in dealing with complex matrimonial cases, whether these involve structuring financial settlements or handling sensitive child issues. A number of his cases have been published in law reports, including a case which has stood the test of time as the benchmark for unreasonable behaviour as a ground for divorce.
Besides sitting for a number of years as a Deputy District Judge, Peter is also experienced in the preparation of wills and lasting Powers of Attorney.
Peter and his wife have three adult children and four grandchildren. For more than twenty five years Peter was a governor of Thorpe Hall School, a local independent school. A life-long Anglican, he has been much involved with the affairs of the Church of England and is a churchwarden of the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch, Leigh on Sea. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a keen photographer. He enjoys walking in the UK and abroad, and aged over 65 years he completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a very respectable time. He has also devised and walked a coast to coast from Harwich to the Bristol Channel and an up-England trek from the English Channel to Lake Windermere.
